What People Have To Say

Our newborn session with Joanna took place in a comfort of our house. We have discussed outfits, backgrounds and ideas for the photoshoot in advance. The pictures were taken with great care and in a professional manner. Now we have seen the photographs and they are beautiful! I can’t wait to show them to the rest of our family. Thank You.

This was our second photoshoot with Joanna.  On both occasions Joanna was a true professional. Letting moments and interactions to unfold naturally and stepping in with helpful suggestions at the right time.

Frequently Asked Questions

This is something we can discuss as it really depends on what you want from your photo shoot, and sometimes a combination of both outdoor and indoor locations can work. Being outdoors provides natural light, space for the children/family/couples to feel relaxed, and free to roam around interacting with nature; perfect for most photo shoots. However, I find it best to have newborn sessions in the home, but outdoor photo shoot for newborns can be arranged as well.

As a mother I appreciate how incredibly fast children grow up; and when to organise a photo shoot for your newborn can be difficult to decide. I have written a blog to go through the changes babies are likely to exhibit at different stages during their first 12 months, but here is a quick guide.

Within the first 2 weeks is the best for a newborn photo shoot; just before their growth spurt around 10 days old is ideal. They will still be able to curl up in the foetal position, and they sleep a lot at this age. Perfect for the sleepy close ups and of tiny hands and feet.

At six weeks is another great time for a newborn photo shoot, as babies will generally be more alert and open-eyed at this point, often beginning to smile and still tiny and gorgeously cute.

At 3 months babies tend to show more expressive emotions, smiling and laughing, and interact with their parents and engage with strangers. Great time for cute chubby hugs, close up of eyes and more playful photo shoots.

At 6 months you might want to enjoy family portraits as babies tend to be able to sit at this age, and therefore more varied poses in the photos shoot without the issues associated with babies that can crawl, head down and out of shot.

At 9 months babies will be crawling and possible have strength in legs and balance to be able to stand whilst holding on to your hand or furniture.

And at 12 months, crawling and standing with assistance might well be turning into their first steps. More noticeably for a photo shoot, your 12 month old baby will be engaging more with you as they respond to your suggestions.

Don’t worry at all. I’ve been there as a mother and understand that babies might not work to our schedule. That’s ok. The photo shoot sessions have a lot of slack built in, so there will be enough time for feeds, changing nappies if needed, and settling your baby. I can provide tips and guidance on the day that might help

I will send you an email with a free high resolution digital image a week after the photo shoot has taken place. The email will have a link to a secure, online photo gallery and the password for you to access this gallery. The email will also include instructions on how to select your preferred images in this gallery and how to purchase them.

1. First, just complete the contact form. The first steps are often the ones that hold us back, but don’t worry, it will be worth it.
2. I’ll then get back to you to arrange a chat about the photo shoot and to answer any of your questions. It is important you have a chance to chat to me as I want you to feel comfortable with me as your photographer.
3. If you’re super happy, then we will book the date and location in the diary, and I’ll send you a booking form.
4. Completion of the booking form and payment of the session fee will confirm your booking.

My calendar does get filled up, so do see if you can arrange your date with me as soon as you feel a photo shoot is for you.
